2024 | Our Year in Review
The transformations we witnessed in 2024 show that our region is ready to invest deeply in a shift toward a more just, resilient food system.
The Alliance works to transform our food system to change how we live, not just how we eat.
2024 HIGHLIGHTS
Welcomed 550 Annual Gathering attendees
Over 550 people attended our 4th Annual Gathering—our highest attendance yet!
Attendees represented diverse sectors across San Diego County, all sharing an interest in uplifting our local food economy, and this year’s theme of Cooperation.
Mobilized $450,000 for local food
The Alliance has directly mobilized $450,000 through our Local Food Economy Lab since its inception.
We’ve mobilized grant funding, provided technical assistance, and facilitated credit-building and business loans to directly support San Diego County’s small-scale farms, fisheries, and food businesses.
Coached 13 local food businesses
This year, we supported 13 businesses through Pollinator—our 2-year business planning and coaching program with $25,000 funding for each participant.
All participants reported gaining new, tangible skills, and greater confidence in the long-term viability of their business.
Reached over 6,000 individuals
The Alliance regularly reaches over 6,000 individuals through our newsletters, social media, coalitions, government and community engagement, programs, events, and more. Join us!
Our community—and the movement for a more just, resilient food system—continue to grow rapidly.
Guided by 3 goals, 10 objectives
Our work continues to be guided by San Diego County Food Vision 2030.
For the past 5 years, the Alliance has mobilized our region around this shared Vision—its three goals and ten objectives that guide us toward a more equitable, resilient future for all.
“I wish for this type of support for every farmer. We used to say, ‘What are we doing next month?’ but with this program, we’re now able to say, ‘What are we doing in the next three years?’—which is amazing.”
— Byron Nkhoma, Hukama Produce, Pollinator program participant
